ANNUAL MUN Pi-Throw
Each year on March 14th the MUN society in term organizes a Pi-throw! he event gives anyone in St. John's and Mount Pearl a chance to purchase a pie and have it thrown, gently, into the face of a friend, co-worker or colleague.
All proceeds from the good-natured event go to the Janeway Children's Hospital in St. John's.
The annual Pi Throw is always a popular event for engineering students and across Memorial University. It's all in good fun and raises money for a very important cause.
The rules of Pi Day are simple and fun to follow. For $5 you can pie one fiend, or for $10 you can have 3 pies delivered. Student volunteers will pick up your contribution and you will deliver the pie to your intended recipient at the specified pie throw time.
The receiver of the pie can then choose to simply take the pie in the face or can pay $5 to have the pie redirected at someone else, including the person who sent the pastry to them in the first place. For $10, an intended recipient can purchase the pie outright.
Over the years this event has raised as much as $2,500 for the Janeway. It's a great charity to support and it's a lot of fun to take part in Pi Day, both as the person sending and receiving a pie.
